Ecotoxicology
WP4 deals with ecotoxicological effects of selected, new identified trace contaminants and their degradation products. The toxicology for aquatic organisms from different tropic levels as well as possible mutagenic effects is examined. Therefore standard methods for acute and chronic effects are introduced, and the results can directly be used for an assessment with deduction of PNEC according to OECD-guidelines.
Furthermore the aquatic toxicity of the sewage water from WP3 is examined and the elimination method is evaluated from a toxcicological point of view. The results provide a basis for risk assessment and are also used for checking the suitability of elimination methods as a part of risk management.
